Breakfast Is Served

For the past nine months or so, I had been working at the Boys & Girls Club of Queen Creek as their Front Desk Manager. It was an awesome opportunity to serve a non-profit in a much different capacity than my previous experiences in churches. Working with a different dynamic of coworkers who don’t necessarily always see there job as a ministry but just as a need for the good of community, or working with kids and families and getting the chance to see more of there dynamics, and situations upfront and personal. After all of it, I can safely say that i found my experiences there to be far more revealing into the lives of God’s people than I did working at the church. I don’t think that’s necessarily a slam to the Church either, as much as it is a revelation of the shallow level of authenticity of people you tend to meet within the Church, or as a result of the pressures they feel to come to the Church ‘clean’ so to speak. Eitherway, it was an extraordinary lesson to take away from a great job that I both truly enjoyed, and truly will miss.

As life does, situations continue to change and therefore my life must as well. I recently took a job at Village Inn (@ Gilbert & Germann) serving breakfast to the masses in the mornings. I have served several times before, so the role itself is nothing new, but as is the case with any job change, the co-workers, customers, and supervisors are. I have only completed one week so far but to this point I can say that I am already excited about the things God is showing me through this life change as well. Whether its getting to witness the compassion of strangers to the lonely and widowed, encountering people looking for direction, or just the need of a hot well-cooked meal and a break in there day. Whatever it is that I may come upon, my hope is that I can continue to serve any and all in excellence, give glory to God in my circumstances, and not just bring food to the table to each new face I meet, but a little bit of hope for there day too. Breakfast is served!
